Binging with Babish: Omelette du Fromage from Dexter's Laboratory

Today, I'm given an excuse to (probably horrendously incorrectly) attempt some French - both the language and cuisine. An iconically challenging but ironically simple dish becomes the sole phrase in Dexter McPherson's normally-stacked vocabulary, the admittedly-seductive-sounding "omelette du fromage". Let's crack some eggs!

Props for being willing to go to the unlikeliest of sources for recipe ideas. this rules.
I JUST REALISED WHY I TOOK FRENCH XD XD XD
Gotta love the Butcher Box sponsorship on a meatless recipe
Omelette *au* fromage
C’est tres bien...
It’s Omelette au Fromage. Js.
"Oh, Dexter, French is the language of LoOoOve" And then he ties you to rails while grooming his moustache, HON HON HON!!!
That first part legitimately scared me and I’m not even French
Welp, can't make an omelet without cracking a few bad jokes.
Where I live, the overwhelming majority of eggs have bright orange yolks.
As far as I undertsand, it is a easy quick rule that darker the yolk, better the taste.
Correction > Omelette de fromage not du !!
Omelette au* fromage.
Bruh the yolks of the eggs they sell in colombia are orange
“Very smallest whisk” *tiny whisk has entered the chat*
I'd really love to see vin disels meal he makes in Babylon ad
I have 12 free ranch chickens and our egg yolks are super dark, thick and custardy. Full of flavor!! I’ll never eat store bought eggs again. 🥚
I heard the deeper orange the yoke is the better the quality of the egg
Corn babish.... they feed the chickens CORN. also eggs probably coming from free range chickens tend to eat bugs and dirt. Adding natural proteins and minerals deepening the orange yolky goodness. I know this cus i raised chickens and ate their eggs every day for breakfast. The pale yellow yolks came from feeding caged chickens ground feathers old eggs shells and feed filler. Not healthy for the chickens less healthy for you. Whatever im not your daddy. You do you bro. 🤷♂️
Omelette au ( read « O » ) Fromage !
The way Babish made the omelette is hella similar to how Omurice is made at Kichi Kichi 🤔
The orange color of the yolk on the eggs is the sign of a happy healthy chicken yard eggs and heirloom eggs typically have this orange color whereas your typical mass produced chicken house eggs are going to be more dull and lighter yellow and almost pale its kinda sad that you can tell how a chicken lived by how delicious the egg is😂
That’s the color eggs are supposed to be not ones at the store are the strange ones
Eh, orange egg yolks are pretty common in Europe.
“look at these eggs they come in fun colours like brown” meanwhile in England i’ve never seen a white egg
Dunno if it's my colorblindness (I see green kinda differently) or if he's color blind, but these eggs at 5:12 are not "sorta blue"...I see them as "sorta green".... could be just me, but it somehow bothers me...
"This teenagers their proteins" Man I love subtitles XD
Anyone else wondering what the actual purpose of the comically large whisk is? It seems almost completely useless.
"Wanna grab our very smallest whisk"
theres so much misinformation in this video and it was all babish joking im just afraid someone would actually use it IRL LOL
The omelettes look like cars or trains or futuristic cars or futuristic trains.
Oh, something I can actually provide some insight on. So, I've had chickens before, and one thing we would like to do is feed them Black berries. This would not only infuse the eggs with a fruity flavor, but would turn both the yolk and egg shells into a surprisingly vibrant purple. Likely all they're doing is feeding the chickens fruit.
Wet eggs are disgusting I know I'm not the only one who hates half cooked egg
😳$10.99 a dozen?!? Dude I’ve been giving mine away for free! You need to make some homestead friends stat. Oh well I guess that could be hard in New York.
3:25 why does he use gloves? Its his food anyway. And when he cuts the eggs he touchs it with his hands 😂
Probably because it’s hot
in the first one... that´s not cheese xD
Dude really pays 10.99 for eggs.....
This is the only thing I remembered from the show
he should make wilson fisk’s omelette from daredevil
@Rithrius yeah, you’re right..
That was pretty much a basic French Omelette and he covered that in his Basics With Babish egg episodes.
As a french I did freak out when you added yellow american cheese 🤢
Still the only French I know to this day
I knew he was trolling the moment he grabbed this "tiny" whisk
As a french, I swear I'd have done the first one. ...Ah sorry I meant: AZ A FRIONCH I SWAIR I WULD HAVE DUNE THE SOME OINE
Your pronounciation is so perfect I had to stop the video and rewind to actually confirm it
I’ve seen many memes of dexter’s “omelette du fromage” and never saw the original but now I’ve seen it and I’m crying
actually how dad used to make. rest in peace, love you pops.
“ I usually use a metal fork on my nonstick pans” your killing me. Don’t use a METAL fork on NONSTICK PANS Now thankfully he was joking but don’t use metal forks on nonstick pans
I’m just gonna make an American omelette away faster and I can make more
Just me or does that omelette at the end look perfectly normal like it doesn't look too orange.
as gud as this looks im never putting so much effort in an omlette
It's like omurice but with out The rice
Vegans hate ur sponsor
Had us French speakers in the first half, not gonna lie :D
manifique 👌
Can we get pogo fruit cake from slime rancher
On dit "omelette au fromage"
Pray to Jesus today you will never regret it a relationship with Jesus is the only way to Heaven cussing and drugs rap is the music of the devil don’t listen to it
In the tv show, Dexter keeps repeating it, which attracts the girls
These eggs are the eggiest eggs because they are from free-range chickens that lay one egg a day. These chicken farms create, by artificial lights, an environment that induces the chickens to lay 2 eggs a day, losing a little (a lot) of consistency. I always take this into account in my receptions.
Oh yeah! Those little white things on the egg yolks. Most times when I’m able I’ll go out of my way to get rid of those little white things because they... creep me out dude.
You should do the cheesecake from FRIENDS
I ain’t even French but the second he pulled out that a m e r i c a n “ c h e e s e “ I screamed
This is your brain on Duolingo... practicing French.
1:45 Someone tell me what he said please
*It's all you can say it's all you can say it's all you can say it's all you can say it's all you can say it's all you can say it's all you can say it's all you can say it's all you can say it's all you can say!*
I love watching your videos, and I love cooking, but I'm a poor broke college student, and I cant afford ingredients. Do you have any recommendations for cooking on a budget?
THAT'S ALL YOU CAN SAAAY!
Organic and naturally fed chickens produce orange yolks like that, my parents kept chickens and they taught me how to feed them to produce the best eggs. A yolk that orange indicates that the Chickens are eating dandelions and another kind of flower that I can't remember the name of.
So it’s just a egg and cheese omelette???
SOS what’s the name of the pepper bomber he uses around 1:40
The fact people still get a reference from an episode in a cartoon that aired twenty years ago gives me hope.
@Richy C. accept it, we're getting old! Lol
Excuse me how long?
Shhh..... my love for french language started from this episode 😄😄😄😄
5:15 literally looks like every single egg I have ever eaten in Australia.
Ahh a childhood memory 🤣
Impressive, Babish kinda nailed that « pardonnez-moi mes chers amis »
